Women's Golf Takes Second in Opening Meet of Fall
Release: 08/27/2013
OMAHA, Neb. -- Northern Iowa defeated the Creighton women's golf team, 7.5 - 0.5, in a dual meet that used match play scoring on Tuesday. The first meet of the fall for both squads was contested at Omaha Country Club.

The competition marked the first regular-season home event for any Creighton team since joining the BIG EAST Conference in July.

Creighton's lone half-point came from sophomore Maddy Albers, who tied with UNI's Amanda Braun. The players did not extend the match beyond 18 holes as is sometimes done in tournament play.

Five of the remaining seven matches weren't decided until the 18th hole, but UNI won three matches by a 1-up count and two others by a 2 & 1 score.

Omaha Country Club, which played to 6,024 yards and par-71 on Tuesday, hosted the U.S. Senior Open in July.

The Bluejays return to action on Sept. 9-10 at the Chip-N- Club Invitational at Wilderness Ridge Golf Club in Lincoln, Neb.
