OMAHA, Neb. - Down 1-0 in the closing moments, the Creighton women's soccer team got a game-tying goal from Kyla Booker and the winner from Kirstyn Corder to down Montana 2-1 in overtime on Sunday, Sept. 15.

The win extended Creighton's winning streak to six matches, moving the Bluejays to 6-2-0 in 2013.  Montana, meanwhile, fell to 2-3-3.

Overtime was brief, but dominated by the Jays.  Creighton's first shot was a header by freshman Ylenia Sachau that sailed high, moments later the Bluejays were able to put the game away.  Sophomore Alissa Kohmetscher set the winning goal up, streaking down the right side of the field.  Kohmetscher sent a centering pass to freshman Lauren Sullivan, the ball went off Sullivan's knee to a Montana defender's head.  Finally Corder swooped in to head the ball into the net from three yards out.

The Bluejays controlled the opening 15 minutes of play, however Creighton was unable to capitalize thanks to the strong play of the Montana back four.  The middle 15 minutes of the first half was relatively quiet, with just two shots from the Jays.  Finally with 15:11 showing on the clock, Corder blasted a shot from 18 yards away that appeared to be headed for the net.  The shot scrapped the bottom of the cross and bounced directly down, giving Montana goalkeeper Kendra McMillen time to clear the shot.

Neither team created much of a threat the rest of the opening period as the two teams went to the locker rooms knotted 0-0.  Montana outshot the Jays 7-6 in the opening frame.

Creighton once again just missed a chance at the lead early in the second half as a header from freshman Ylenia Sachau bounced off the right post.

In the 67th minute it was Montana's first significant chance to score, creating their second corner of the match.  While the corner itself did not result in a goal, Creighton's failure to clear the ball allowed Stephanie Carl to punch a shot into the net at 66:49.

Staked to a 1-0 lead the Grizzlies dropped into a protect mode, leaving just one forward.  Creighton took advantage of the style chance, pressing Montana down the final 23 minutes.  The Jays' persistence paid off in the 87th minute as sophomore Alyssa Jara lifted a backward pass over her head to Booker.  The fellow sophomore flicked the ball backward for her second goal of the season to tie the match at 1-1.

The Bluejays outshot Montana 22-11 in the match, including 14-4 in the second half. Creighton is back in action on Friday, Sept. 20 as the Jays host Omaha at 7:00 p.m.
