OMAHA, Neb. - Sophomore Marissa Janning was named the BIG EAST women's basketball player of the week on Monday, Jan. 27. The award is for games played during the week of Jan. 20-26, which saw Creighton win its only game over Marquette.
Janning stuffed the stat sheet in the Bluejays’ 83-64 win over Marquette on Saturday, Jan. 25. Janning scored a game-high 23 points in 30 minutes of action while dishing out a career-high eight assists and grabbing three boards.
The sophomore guard made over 47 percent (10-21) of her attempts from the floor while committing just one turnover against a Golden Eagles squad which forces nearly 16 miscues per game.
This is the first weekly honor captured by the Bluejays during the 2013-14 season.
Janning and the Bluejays are back in action on Tuesday, Jan. 28 as Creighton battles Seton Hall at 6 pm in New Jersey.
