Creighton Earns MVC-High Four APR Honors
OMAHA, Neb. - Creighton University student-athletes are excelling in the classroom as well as on the field, court or course, according to the Division I Academic Performance Program (APP) Report, released today by the NCAA. This recognition honors Division I sports teams that posted multiyear Academic Progress Rates (APRs) in the top 10 percent of all squads in each sport. Creighton had four teams honored, tying Illinois State for most among Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) member institutions.
The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance. The recognition is part of a broad Division I academic reform effort.
Creighton men's soccer and women's volleyball, tennis, and golf teams were recognized. This is the third women's tennis recognition (and first since 2005-06), and first overall honor for men's soccer. This is the fourth straight year the volleyball and women's golf programs have been honored, making Creighton the only school in the MVC with an active streak of two programs to have four consecutive recognitions.
