Sachau appeared in 16 games for Creighton last season, including nine starts ... Cracking the starting lineup in her first nine contests of 2014, Ylenia posted four goals as a sophomore ... Sachau scored in consecutive games twice in 2014, tallying goals against New Mexico (Sept. 5) and Drake (Sept. 7) and again against Providence (Oct. 2) as well as Seton Hall (Oct. 5) ... The Bluejays were 3-0-1 in matches that Sachau scored.
Ylenia started the first match of the 2013 season and went on to see action in each of Creighton’s 18 contests, including eight starts ... She closed the season with two goals and one assist (five points) on 12 shots ... Sachau notched her first intercollegiate point in the third match of the season with an assist in the 6-0 win over North Dakota on Aug. 30 ... She went on to record goals in Creighton’s 6-1 win versus Idaho on Sept. 8 and again in the Bluejays’ 4-0 win over South Dakota (Sept. 13).
Sachau came to Creighton from Schulzentrum Blumenthal Gymnasium in Bremen, Germany ... She did not play soccer at her high school, instead focusing on the club level.
Ylenia played club soccer for SV Werder Bremen, where she participated in the national tournament from 2008-13 ... Sachau played her first match in the German second women’s league in 2011 and played in women’s national cup competition in 2012.
The daughter of Olaf and Claudia Sachau, Ylenia was born in Bremen, Germany ... She has two siblings, Yannick and Yarah.
