CoSIDA Writing Contest Honors Sports Information Staff
Release: 12/07/2010

OMAHA, Neb. -- Two members of the Creighton Sports Information Office have been honored with a runner-up finish in a national writing contest.

Associate Sports Information Director and softball contact Rob Simms, along with Sports Information Director Rob Anderson, were honored in the recently completed College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest for 2009-10. The veteran staffers placed second in the "Historical Feature" category for the piece titled "Inside The Numbers: A Look At Sinkler's Incredible Intentional Walk".

The feature, written on May 14, 2010, focused on an extra innings intentional walk issued the previous night to Creighton softball All-American Renae Sinkler during a State Farm MVC Tournament game against Wichita State.

Princeton's Jerry Price won first place in the historical features category for a piece called "So Long, Ty", that was also honored as the national story of the year.

Both Simms and Anderson started at Creighton in 2001. The duo has previously been honored for having the Creighton Sports Information office recognized as "Best in the MVC" following the 2007-08 school year.
