Shannon Pivovar is entering her first season as a full time employee at Creighton University, as she has taken the position as the Assistant Sports Information Director after two years as the Sports Information Intern. She will be the main contact for Men's Soccer, Baseball, Men's and Women's Tennis and Women's Crew for the 2012-13 season, after working with Women's Soccer as part of her intern experience.
Pivovar came to Creighton following graduation in May 2010 from Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Mo., where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in sports management. She also received a minor in business. Pivovar was a member of the Alpha Chi academic fraternity as she received a 3.80 grade point average through her four years at MWSU. She made the President's and Dean's honor lists multiple times through her academic career.
While at Western, Pivovar was a member of the Griffon softball team. A four year starter in the middle infield, she helped her team make it to two regional appearances and her senior class left with the second highest total wins in program history. Pivovar also received all-MIAA honors her sophomore, junior, and senior season and was an academic all-MIAA first-team selection those seasons. Shannon was also on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) serving as president, vice president and secretary.
Pivovar is not new to the Creighton University athletic department as she has spent time working with both sports marketing and compliance, including helping transition between two compliance personnel. She also spent last fall working with the Missouri Western sports information department, helping with football, women's soccer, and men's and women's basketball.
Pivovar is originally from Omaha, Neb. and graduated from Ralston High School in 2006. While at Ralston, Shannon competed in softball, basketball and soccer and was in various clubs. Her parents, Steve and Sue, can still be seen at many RHS events as well as supporting her brother, Bret, who plays baseball at Graceland University. She also enjoys spending time with her sister and brother-in-law, Stephanie and Steve Grams, and her niece, Aurelia and nephew, Truman.
