Cross Country Competes at Roy Griak Invite
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The Creighton men's cross country team finished 24th and the women 28th at the Roy Griak Invite on Saturday. Iowa, Illinois State, Drake, Nebraska, Missouri, Michigan State, Oklahoma and host school Minnesota were some of the men’s and women’s teams who participated in the gold race.
BYU won team honors on the men’s side and Arizona finished first on the women’s side.
BYU’s Tylor Thatcher finished the 8k run first overall with a time of 24:26. Arizona States Shelby Houlihan won the women’s 6k event with a 20:36.
Maddie Ivy led the Bluejay women in the 6K run. The freshman finished 126th with a time of 23:04. Courtney Sawle finished 160th with a time of 23:42. Emily Mauser finished third for the Jays. Her time of 25:02 was enough for 189th place. Emily Peterson’s 25:07 was good enough for 190th. Rounding out the top five Bluejays was Vanessa Miller, who finished 191st with a time of 25:09.
For the men Garrett Kenyon was the top Bluejay once again. He finished 114th with a time of 26:01, knocking a full minute off of his time from last week. Patrick Reinschmidt finished 158th with a time of 27:40. Drew Prescott finished 160th with a time of 27:43. Freshman Matt Piercy placed fourth for the Jays. His time of 28:15 was good enough for 162nd place. Fellow freshman Eric Klein placed 164th with a time of 28:21 to finish in the men’s top five.
The Jays compete in the Briar Cliff Invite on Oct. 12 in McCook Lake, S.D.
