PEORIA, Ill -- The Creighton Cross Country teams placed 16th (men) and 20th (women) at the ninth annual Bradley Classic on Friday, Oct. 12.
The Jays' men's team placed 16 of 18 teams on Friday, led by a 42nd place individual finish from senior Mike Hitt in 25:40 in the 8K event. Freshman Garrett Kenyon finished 69th in 26:08, while sophomores Drew Prescott (92nd in 26:33), Steve Raimondi (103rd in 27:03) and junior Danny Diaz (104th in 27:05) rounded out the scoring squad for Creighton.
In the women's 6K, the Jays finished 20th of 23 teams with a combined score of 545. Sophomore Courtney Sawle paced the Bluejays with a 49th place finish in 22:14, while sophomore Meghan Barry placed 111th in 23:06. The final three scoring Jays were freshmen Emily Mauser (117th in 23:17), Emily Peterson (123rd in 23:24) and sophomore Jessica Johnson (145th in 24:10).
The Bluejays will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 27 as both the men's and women's teams will compete at the Missouri Valley Conference Championships in Normal, Ill. on the Illinois State campus.
