SAN BRUNO, Calif., -- The 2011 West Coast Conference Spring All-Academic teams honor some of the league’s finest examples of the consummate scholar-athlete. At the completion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each of the participating sponsored sports. To be considered, a student-athlete must earn at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to his or her team. This year’s list includes 20 repeat selections from last spring.
“The West Coast Conference is very proud to honor and recognize these exceptional student-athletes for their exemplary efforts in the classroom and on the fields of play,” said WCC Commissioner Jamie Zaninovich. “Our institutions strive to balance academic achievement in the classroom with success on the field, and this list is evident of that effort.
Creighton placed five members on the scholar-athlete team, including Christine Koehler picking up first team All-Academic honors. The junior from Monument, Colo., holds the highest GPA on the Women's Rowing WCC All-Academic team, posting a 3.940 gpa in nursing. She is joined by four of her Bluejay teammates, all who made honorable mention. Junior Kayla Heimerman joins sophomores Emily Keating, Molly Meister and Kristina Ward on the honorable mention list.
