OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The Creighton women's crew team finished the OU Invitational on Sunday, rowing three days straight in Oklahoma City. San Diego won the event, finishing with 104 points, with Oklahoma second with 98. Tulsa (50), SMU (26), Kansas (24) and Creighton (0) followed, respectively.
In the morning races on Saturday, the Jays posted impressive times but couldn't earn any points. In the morning races, Creighton raced against SMU. In the Varsity 4, Creighton finished just two seconds behind SMU, with the Jays posting a 9:06.09 and SMU with a 9:04.68. In the Second Varsity 8, SMU posted a 7:42.71 while the Jays finished with a 7:48.50. In the final race, Varsity 8, Creighton finished with a 7:34.08 and SMU finished just ahead, with a 7:29.29.
Afternoon races pitted the Jays against eventual champion San Diego. In the Varsity 4, USD rowed a 8:21.25 followed by a Creighton 9:56.31 finish. The Jays had a closer Second Varsity 8, with CU crossing the line at 8:16.91 and USD finishing at 7:45.78. In the final race, Varsity 8, San Diego finished in 7:30.35, while the Jays crossed the line at 8:06.12. After one day of competition, San Diego was in first (52) with Oklahoma just six points back (48).
Creighton matched up against Oklahoma in the morning session on Sunday. In the Varsity 4, OU A finished in 8:50.15, while OU B crossed at 9:22.25. The Jays crossed at 11:15.54. In the Second Varsity 8, OU's teams finished in 7:32.00 and 7:42.31, with the Jays coming in at 8:20.46. In the Varsity 8, the Jays finished in the closest time to Oklahoma, with the Jays finishing in 8:08.55 and OU finishing at 7:34.70.
To finish off the meet, the Jays met up with Kansas. In the Varsity 4, Kansas A finished in 9:10.75 and Kansas B crossed in 9:15.83. Creighton then finished at 10:12.12. In Second Varsity 8, Kansas crossed the line at 8:06.51 followed by the Jays at 8:29.09. In the final race of the day, Creighton finished in 8:04.59 with Kansas pulling in at 7:52.35.
