Creighton Bested by Drake in Dual Rowing Meet

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Creighton crew team dropped its lone dual meet of the fall 2012 season at Drake on Saturday, Nov. 10.

Battling their local rival the Bluejays delivered an inspired effort on Saturday, earning victories in the varsity four-person boat in varsity competition by just under 20 seconds.  Unfortunately Drake battled back to claim both eight-person boats, the first by less than three seconds.

"We rowed very well today," said Creighton head coach Dan Chipps.  "We were able to make up time against a very good team that won its conference last year.  Our performance today provides a great deal of excitement for our team as we head into the spring season."

The Jays also made a statement for the future, claiming both the four-person and eight-person boats in novice competition.

The Creighton rowing team will be off for the next few months. The Bluejays will start the spring season in Austin, Texas with a spring training Trip from March 9-17.
