Softball Coaching Staff
Renae Sinkler
Assistant Coach
Two-time Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year Renae Sinkler returns to the Bluejay dugout for her third season as an assistant coach after serving as a volunteer assistant coach for a year. The 2010 NFCA All-America first baseman works with hitters and infielders.

In her first season as an assistant coach, Sinkler was a part of the 2013 MVC Coaching Staff of the Year, leading Creighton to an MVC regular season title. She helped the Bluejays claim their MVC regular season title since her playing days in 2009.

In 2014 the Bluejays finished fourth in their inaugural season as a member of the BIG EAST Conference. CU finished with an overall record of 29-24 and a conference record of 10-10. The Bluejays finished conference play strong by reeling off four straight victories to earn a bid to the BIG EAST Softball Championship before top-seeded DePaul ended their NCAA tournament hopes by defeating the Jays.

Sinkler helped develop seniors Alexis Cantu and Blair Lowe as well as junior Liz Dike as they earned spots on All-BIG EAST teams.

The Bluejays surprised some in the MVC by winning the regular-season title in 2013 after being picked fourth in the preseason poll. Despite earning a No. 1 seed, Creighton fell 1-0 to UNI in the MVC tournament semifinals after a game-opening leadoff home run that proved to be the difference. Senior Amy Baker’s record-setting year led the Jays to a 29-18 overall record and 15-7 conference mark. Baker ended her prolific four-year Bluejay career as the Creighton and MVC career leader in home runs (58) as well as RBI (167) - records previously held by Sinkler. Dike, Lowe and Ellen Homan each earned All-MVC selections for the Jays.

Sinkler’s impact paid off in 2012 as a potent Bluejay offense scored at least 10 runs in a game 11 times and scored a school record of 294 runs last season. CU led the MVC with a .292 batting average, 56 homers, 275 RBI and a .464 slugging percentage. The Jays ended the year ranked in the NCAA top-30 in scoring (No. 20), home runs per game (No. 22) and slugging percentage (No. 27).

Sinkler won a title in each of her four seasons with the Bluejays, as CU won three straight regular-season titles from 2007 to 2009 and a Valley tournament championship in 2010. She also helped lead the Jays to three NCAA Regional appearances in her career.

The Lincoln, Neb., native put together the greatest offensive season in school history as a senior in 2010, setting single-season school records for runs (59), RBI (58), total bases (147), slugging percentage (.880), on-base percentage (.514) and hit an MVC-record 24 home runs.  She ranked fourth in the NCAA in home runs per game and sixth in slugging percentage, earning NFCA Third Team All-America honors as a senior.

Sinkler crushed a school and MVC record 50 home runs and owned school records of 146 RBI and 391 total bases at the end of her playing career. A member of three Bluejay NCAA Tournament teams, she earned MVC First Team honors three times, NFCA All-Region honors twice and is one of four players in league history to repeat as MVC Player of the Year.

Along the way Sinkler earned USA Softball’s National Player of the Week recognition on April 14, 2008 as a sophomore after hitting .700 and driving in nine runs during Creighton’s 13-1 defeat of Nebraska in her hometown.  Sinkler graduated from Creighton in 2011 with a degree in graphic design.
