Men's Soccer Hosts Fourth Annual “Kicking with the Jays”

OMAHA, Neb. – The Creighton men’s soccer team hosted its fourth annual “Kicking with the Jays” free soccer clinic for underprivileged youth at Morrison Stadium on Saturday morning.

The event was held in conjunction with "Audrey's Shoes for Kids," an organization founded in memory of former CU coach Bob Warming's late daughter, Audrey Warming. The body provides soccer gear, including shoes, shirts, shin guards and socks to attendees from the greater Omaha area. The shoes, gear and soccer balls distributed are funded by private donations, including contributions from major shoe companies.

Creighton and UnitedHealthcare co-sponsor the event. The CU coaching staff, student-athletes and UHC Community Outreach team handed out several dozen pairs of shoes to kids aged from seven to 15.

Warming boasts the most victories in Jays’ soccer history. A member of the Creighton Athletics Hall of Fame, he led Creighton from 1990-94 and again from 2001-09, posting a combined record of 190-61-34 (.726) during his 14 years with the Jays.

“We are continuing the legacy that Bob and Audrey Warming began in Omaha,” said current Creighton head men’s soccer coach Elmar Bolowich. “We are very grateful that so many have donated to this program. I believe this to be an unprecedented event for college soccer and a local community.”

“Kicking with the Jays” aims to utilize soccer to reach the lives of children with the message that you can have fun, play and live an active and healthy lifestyle no matter your age or economic status.
