Men's Tennis Signs International Player

OMAHA, Neb.- Creighton men’s tennis head coach Tom Lilly announced Thursday that Marko Vukalovic recently signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Bluejays beginning with the 2014-2015 season.

Vukalovic began his high school career at Rudjer Boskovic High School in Serbia earning a Cambridge ICE diploma before enrolling at Elevation Prep Academy in Sarasota, Fla., for his final year of schooling and training.

Over the course of his decorated career, Vukalovic won four Belgrade Tennis Association Titles and two Serbian Tennis Association Titles. In 2013, the 5’11 right-hander claimed the Next Generation Super Series Doubles Title. That same year he helped lead his club team, TK Usce, to a third-place finish in the National Team Championships a year after the squad advanced to the quarterfinals.

Prior to Vukalovic’s arrival in the U.S., he ranked 34th in the country of Serbia and as high as third in the city of Belgrade. He studied under former Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) player Cary Cohenour as well as Nemanja Lalic who has coached top-20 Serbian ATP players in recent years.

A native of Belgrade, Serbia, Vukalovic joins the Bluejays as the second international player on the roster alongside rising junior August Nysted of Norway.

Marko is the son of Drago and Snezana Vukalovic. He has one brother, Luka. Vukalovic plans to major in economics.

Vukalovic joins two other men’s tennis signees in Joey Anderson and Alex Koca.
