Release: 02/16/2014

LITTLE ROCK, Ark - The Creighton baseball team suffered a series sweep with a 7-1 loss at Arkansas-Little Rock on Sunday, Feb. 16.

Creighton fell to 0-3, while Arkansas-Little Rock (UALR) moved to 3-0 in 2014.

Down 2-0 after the first inning, the Bluejays got on the board in the top of the second with three straight hits.  Sophomore Reagan Fowler got things going for Creighton with a one-out infield single.  Junior Kevin Lamb moved runners to first and second with a single to center.  Sophomore Brett Murray followed with an RBI double to right-center to plate Fowler.  Lamb, however, was cut down at the plate attempting to tie the game at 2-2.

With new momentum, UALR plated four runs in the bottom of the third on three infield singles and a three-run home run to push its lead to 6-1.   The Trojans added an insurance run in the seventh to complete the three game sweep of Creighton.

Sophomore Austin Groth suffered the loss (0-1) for the Bluejays, allowing six runs on eight hits and a walk in 2.1 innings.

The Trojans got seven strong innings from Cameron Allen as he held the Bluejays to one run on three hits to pick up the win (1-0).

Creighton returns to action on Friday, Feb. 21 as the Bluejays open a three-game series with Minnesota in Fort Myers, Fla. at 12:00 pm.
