OMAHA, Neb. - The Creighton women’s basketball team finalized its 2013-14 schedule with today’s announcement of its first BIG EAST Conference slate. The Bluejays will play each of its nine new league foes twice each as part of the conference’s double round-robin format.
Creighton’s first game in the BIG EAST will see the Bluejays host Villanova on Dec. 28th. It will be the first meeting between the schools. The Jays and the Wildcats were two of four BIG EAST squads to appeared in the NCAA Tournament last season (St. John's & DePaul were also in the NCAA Tournament).
The Bluejay's first BIG EAST road trip will take the team to the nation's capital on Jan.1 to face Georgetown.
Creighton returns home to face DePaul on Jan. 4 in a game that will be televised on Fox Sports 1.
Next the Jays embark on a two-game road trip to the east coast, facing St. John's on Jan. 8 and Providence on Jan. 11. Xavier makes its first trip to Omaha on Jan.15, then Creighton travels to Butler on Jan. 18.
The first half of the BIG EAST schedule wraps with Creighton hosting Marquette on Jan. 25 and traveling to Seton Hall on Jan. 28.
Creighton heads to Philadelphia to face Villanova on Feb.1, then hosts Georgetown on Feb. 5. The Jays head to DePaul on Feb. 9, the second Bluejay contest on Fox Sports 1.
Providence comes to Omaha on Feb. 15, followed by Creighton traveling to Xavier on Feb. 18.
The Jays lone two-game home stretch begins on Feb. 23 against St. John's (Fox Sports 1), followed by Seton Hall coming to D.J. Sokol Arena on Feb. 26.
Creighton's final BIG EAST road trip of the regular season is to Marquette on March 1 (Fox Sports 1), while the regular season wraps up at home against Butler on March 4.
The BIG EAST Conference women's championship tournament will be played in Rosemont, Ill. in the Allstate Arena from March 8-11. The semifinals and finals of the BIG EAST Tournament will be televised by Fox Sports 1.
The Jays non-conference schedule was equally finalized, with the addition of an exhibition contest with Fort Hays State on Nov. 4. Creighton's contest with Minnesota was also moved to Nov. 16 due to a scheduling conflict.
