Women's Tennis Drops Home Opener to Illinois State

OMAHA, Neb. -- Illinois State spoiled the 2014 home opener for the Creighton Women's Tennis team, picking up a 5-2 victory over the host Bluejays at the Hanscom Indoor Tennis Center on Friday afternoon.

Creighton is now 2-4 on the spring, while ISU is 4-2.

ISU won the doubles point, winning the three doubles matches.

Creighton's lone victories came from Jennie Hartjes at No. 1 singles and Amanda Noonan at No. 5 singles.

Hartjes wasted little time in defeating Emmie Marx, claiming a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Noonan's victory over Natalia Parchowska was equally lopsided, coming in 6-2, 6-1 fashion.

Illinois State got singles victories by Carolina Abello at No. 2, Sierra Stone at No. 3, Madie Baillon at No. 4 and Kadi Ilves at No. 6.

The Bluejays wore special pink uniforms as part of a Valentine's Day theme.

Creighton returns to the court next Friday with a match at former MVC rival Drake.
