Women's Golf Finishes 17th at MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Creighton women’s golf team finished 17th at the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial on Tuesday. The par-72 6,081 yard Rivercut Golf Course hosted the 17-team event. The field included host school Missouri State as well as Bradley, Drake, Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois, Wichita State and Redlands CC. 

Creighton finished with a team score of 997 (334+323+340).

Oral Roberts won team honors finishing at 891 (296+296+299). Wichita State finished second (297+298+310=905) and Southern Illinois (300+302+308=910) came in third. 

Redlands’ Lina Aguillon claimed the top spot overall with a 215 (73+71+71). Meghan Schuetz of Wichita State finished second with a 216 (78+74+75) and Missouri State’s Megan Thompson (76+70+73=219) finished in third place.

For the Jays, Rachel Thompson (91+74+83) and Grace Yowell (79+81+88) finished tied for 73rd with a 248. Kelsey Petersen placed 76th with a 249 (81+878+81).

Finishing one stroke behind Petersen was Annie Pearson (83+81+88 = 252) who finished tied for 83rd  and Madeline Albers placed 100th with an 281 (91+95+95).

The Jays will return to action in the spring of 2014.
