OMAHA, Neb. – The Creighton men’s and women’s tennis teams combined to win four doubles crowns and advanced 11 players to singles title matches at the Omaha Collegiate Invitational on Saturday at the Koch Tennis Center.
The CU men’s squad won three doubles championships while the ladies picked up one.
Creighton advanced 11 players to their respective singles Flight Championship matches on Sunday. After Jays won both sides in four of the brackets, those championships are set up to be “All-Bluejay” contests.
In men’s singles Flight A, CU senior Billy Paluch and freshman Jake Norman each advanced to the final. Creighton junior Elliott Baker and Dippel claimed spots in the Flight C title match. Sophomore Anthony Rauschenbach and freshman Aaron Chalstrom claimed spots in the Flight E championship. Glazer rounds out the seven men’s finalists in Flight G where he’ll take on Jake Sheldon of Northern Colorado.
In women’s singles Flight A, senior Analese Snyder and Hartjes achieved spots in the championship match. Nelsen advanced to the Flight B final against Faith Lee of North Dakota while Vermillion faces Tiffany Filipovich of South Dakota State in the Flight D championship.
Play concludes at the Invitational on Sunday at 9 a.m. with the final round of singles. The tournament will continue to be held at the Koch Tennis Center but could be moved inside to the Hanscom Tennis Center if inclement weather occurs.
