Men's Golf Ties For Fourth in Season Opener
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The Creighton men’s golf team finished tied for fourth place with Chicago State and Lewis University at the Green Bay Invitational on Tuesday. The seven-team event was played on the Par-72, 5,914 yard Starboard course at Green Bay Country Club.
Creighton finished with a team score of 618 (304-314), battling significantly tougher conditions on Tuesday.
Green Bay won team honors finishing at 585 (292-293). Loyola-Chicago (284-305 = 589) and St. Ambrose University (302-311 = 613) finished in second and third respectively.
Individual honors went to Green Bay’s Tom Boockmeier, who shot a 141 (71-70), Just missing the top spot by two shot was Loyola-Chicago’s Nick Dennis. In a tie for third was Green Bay 's Joe Duchateau (76-69 = 145) and Loyola-Chicago’s Alex Cusumano (70-75 = 145).
There were three finishers in the top 20 for the Bluejays. Johnny Spellerberg was the leader in the CU clubhouse. He finished 10th overall with a 150 (73, 77). Tommy Anderson finished tied for 14th with a 153 (73, 80). Kade Brown was the third best Creighton golfer on the day. His 154 (76, 78) placed him a tie for 19th.
The Jays hit the links again on Sept. 23-24 at the Jackrabbit Fall Invite in Sioux Falls, S.D.
