Women's Golf Finishes 13th at Chip-N Club Invitational

LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Creighton women’s golf team finished 13th at the Chip-N Club Invitational on Tuesday. The 6,251 yard par-72 Wilderness Ridge Golf Course hosted the 13 –team event which included Iowa, Missouri State, Wichita State, Nebraska Omaha and host school Nebraska.  

Creighton finished with a team score of 996 (330, 330, 336).

Nebraska won team honors finishing at 874 (284, 296, 294). Central Arkansas (303, 292, 297= 892) and Wichita State (307, 292, 302 = 901) came in second and third respectively. 

Individual honors went to Nebraska’s Cassie Deeg, who shot a 213 (70, 73, 74). Deeg’s teammate Steffi Niesen (70, 73, 74) finished four shots back and took second place. Central Arkansas’ Malin Seeneryd came in third with a 218 (73, 71, 74).

For the Jays, Rachel Thompson finished tied for 46th with a 244 (80, 81, 83). Katie Morel finished tied for 54th with a 248 (81, 78, 89). Newcomer Kelsey Petersen tied for 61st with a 251 (82, 87, 82).

Mary Cathryn Rau (67th, 87, 86, 84 = 257) and Grace Yowell (70th, 87, 85, 87 = 259) both competed in the invite, as well.

Annie Pearson (71st, 88, 81, 91 = 260) competed as an individual but did not factor into CU's team score.

The Jays hit the links again on Sept. 16-17 at the CSU Cougar Classic in Chicago, Ill.
