-- The Creighton men’s golf team finished ninth at the Mizzou Intercollegiate, which concluded on Tuesday. The 12-team, 54-hole event took place at the Club at Old Hawthorne. Among the participants were Drake and Northern Iowa.
The Jays finished with a team score of 905 (304-290-311). Host school Missouri took team honors shooting an 852 (277-280-295). Austin Peay (288-285-298=871) and Washington State (287-290-295=872) finished second and third respectively. Individually Dustin Korte of Austin Peay finished first with a 211 (71-68-72). There was a three way tie for second between Missouri’s Hunter Kraus (68-74-70=212) and Emilio Cuartero (68-69-75=212), as well as Utah Valley’s Mason Casper (70-70-72=212).
For the Jays, Daniel McKernan
led the way. The junior finished tied for 18th place, shooting a 222 (76-69-77). Ben Lowman
was the second to finish for the Jays. The senior tied for 26th with a 223 (77-72-74). Senior John Rasmussen
finished tied for 38th with a 227 (74-74-79).
Freshman Steffen Lake
(77-76-81=234, 49th) and sophomore Johnny Spellerberg
(77-75-83=235, T-50) had strong showings.
The Jays next competition is a dual with Drake on April 16 in Des Moines, Iowa.
