OMAHA, Neb. - The Creighton Baseball team's season long battle with Mother Nature continued as the Jays' Wednesday game at Iowa has been postponed to April 23 at 6:05 p.m. due to standing snow in Iowa City.
The March 27th contest is Creighton's ninth game in 2013 affected by poor weather conditions.
Creighton was forced to withdraw from the Lamar Tournament (Feb. 22-24) due to travel complications caused by a snow storm. The ensuing weekend Creighton was forced to move its series at BYU four hours south to St. George Utah as the field in Provo, Utah was unplayable.
Creighton staff and players feverishly removed snow from the Creighton Sports Complex when the Bluejays' home opener against North Dakota had to be moved from TD Ameritrade Park Omaha due to concerns about the playing surface. Finally the contest with South Dakota State on March 20th was moved to May 8th by severe wind and cold.
The Jays return to action this weekend as Creighton and Nebraska Omaha play a three game series. The Jays host the contests on Friday, March 29 (6:00 p.m.) and Sunday, March 31 (1:00 p.m.), while the Mavericks will host the Saturday game at 1:00 p.m. at Werner Park.
