Warren Named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week
OMAHA, Neb. - Creighton sophomore Matt Warren was named the BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week on Monday, April 21. Warren improved to an astounding 8-0 on the season after tossing seven innings of shutout ball in Creighton’s 4-0 victory in the rubber game of last week’s three game set at Villanova on Saturday, April 19.
He allowed just three hits and two walks while striking out four. It was an unusual Saturday start for Warren, who had his originally schedule start Thursday pushed back because of an emergency dental issue. Warren kept the shutout intact when he induced inning-ending double plays in the third and fifth innings. He’s given up just two earned runs over his last five starts while dropping his ERA to 1.71.
Warren and the Bluejays open a five-game week on Tuesday against Omaha at 6:30 pm
