The Creighton University Men’s Basketball program will showcase its support of the American Cancer Society Coaches Vs. Cancer program on Saturday, January 25, 2014 when it hosts the Georgetown Hoyas on First National Bank Court at the CenturyLink Center Omaha (7:02 p.m. tip-off). Fans are encouraged to wear pink to promote cancer awareness and participate in the Pink Out, and the first 15,000 Bluejay fans will receive a complimentary pink t-shirt courtesy of Alegent Creighton Health and Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center. The Bluejay players will be wearing pink jerseys and warm up shooting shirts in support of the nights events.
Fans had the opportunity to support the American Cancer Society by taking part in the Pink Jersey Auction. Bids could be submitted from January 9 through January 19 for jerseys of the fans favorite player. All proceeds from the Pink Out will benefit the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge Campaign as well as continued programs, services and research. Winning bidders will also have the opportunity to honor someone they know who is a survivor or remember someone who has lost their battle by personalizing the warm up shooting shirts with the name of a loved one. This year, more than $48,000 was raised for the cause.
Coaches vs. Cancer is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) that empowers basketball coaches, their teams, and local communities to make a difference in the fight against cancer.
