Menís Soccer Comes in at No. 12 in Latest NSCAA Top 25
Release: 10/15/2013
OMAHA, Neb. - The Creighton men's soccer team ranked at No. 12 in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll released Tuesday afternoon, following a setback at Marquette last weekend.

As a result, Creighton dropped five spots in the poll to the No. 12 position in the NSCAA rankings. The Jays are just 14 votes shy of fellow BIG EAST member Georgetown’s No. 11 slot in this week’s poll. California claimed the No. 1 ranking this week.

It marks the 44th consecutive week that Creighton is ranked in the NSCAA Top 25. The 2010 preseason poll was the last time the Jays were unranked.

In the latest NCAA Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) released on Monday, Creighton ranks No. 6 overall. The RPI is one of the primary tools utilized by the NCAA for tournament team selections and seeding. The Jays lead seven BIG EAST squads listed among the top 49.

Michigan, the Bluejays’ opponent on Tuesday, is ranked at No. 58 in the RPI. Villanova, CU’s foe this weekend, is No. 75.

The Jays dropped to No. 8 in the TopDrawerSoccer Top 25 rankings this week, down one slot from last week. Creighton fell three spots to No. 10 in the latest College Soccer News Top 30 rankings released on Monday.

The Jays slipped nine spots to No. 17 in the latest Soccer America Men's Top 25 released on Tuesday. The Soccer Times Top 25 was unavailable at press time.

Creighton continues its road trip next week with a non-conference match at Michigan this evening. The Jays and Wolverines will play at 6 p.m. CT in Ann Arbor. The match will be broadcast live on the Big Ten Network.
