Checkerboard Planned For Final Men's Basketball Home Game
Release: 02/26/2011

OMAHA, Neb. -- After doing both a "White-Out" and "Blue-Out" in home games earlier this year, Creighton men's basketball is looking to step it up another level and asking its fans to participate in a blue and white "Checkerboard" for Saturday's regular-season home finale vs. Northern Iowa. That game tips off at 1:05 pm and will be televised by Fox Sports Net.

Fans that sit in even-numbered sections of the lower bowl should wear blue, while odd-numbered sections should wear white.

For fans that sit in the upper-bowl, even-numbered sections are asked to wear white, while odd-numbered sections are blue.

Those seated in the Creighton student section are asked to wear blue shirts.

Creighton will honor its five seniors, Darryl Ashford, Casey Harriman, Kaleb Korver, Kenny Lawson Jr. and Wayne Runnels, following the game.

Examples of other schools to have successfully done a "Checkerboard" game can be found here (Tennessee) or here (Iowa).

LOWER BOWL - Even-numbered sections are blue.  Odd-numbered sections are white.
UPPER BOWL - Even-numbered sections are white.  Odd-numbered sections are blue.
CU STUDENT SECTION - Students need to wear blue shirts.
