Friday's "Bluejay Madness" To Be A Night of Basketball Fun

OMAHA, Neb. -- College basketball fans can catch their first glimpse of the 2010-11 Creighton basketball teams by attending a tip-off event, dubbed "Bluejay Madness" at D.J. Sokol Arena inside the Wayne and Eileen Ryan Athletic Center on Friday, October 15.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and the event will begin at 7:30 p.m., with introductions of players and coaches from both the women's and men's teams. Admission is free to the event but fans are encouraged to bring a canned or boxed food item as a donation to the Siena/Francis House (sponsored by the Student-Athlete Advisory Council, collection receptacles will be positioned at entry points).

The event will also include a three-point shooting contest (a bracketed-event, eight two-person teams of a men's team member and women's team member), 15-minute scrimmages by both squads and a men's slam dunk contest. Scheduled participants for the Slam Dunk Contest include Will Artino, Darryl Ashford, Kenny Lawson Jr., Wayne Runnels, Jahenns Manigat and Antoine Young.

Concessions will be available for purchase throughout the event and 2010-11 roster sheets for each team will be available free of charge.

The event is scheduled to run for about an hour with an autograph session for both teams set to start at around 8:30 p.m. CU Athletics Ticket Office personnel will be available throughout the event for fans interested in purchasing men's or women's basketball season tickets.

For those unable to attend, Creighton Athletics will be providing a complimentary video webcast of the night's festivities.
