In May of 2010, Creighton Athletics introduced new Twitter and Facebook pages.

The University has moved the athletic department's Twitter page to http://www.twitter.com/gocreighton, or @gocreighton to users of the Twitterverse. Planned features of the Twitter page include:
-A Creighton Athletics Fact of the Day, during the athletic season.
-A method to alert fans of rainouts/delays/cancellations.
-Multiple updates per game with a Sports Information staffer in attendance, as well as select other events.
-Links to feature stories and and current/past student-athletes of interest from out-of-town papers.
-Preview upcoming guests on the Creighton Sports Hour.
-Link to podcasted radio interviews with coaches/student-athletes or upcoming radio appearances.

Creighton Athletics has also introduced its first department-wide Facebook page, which can be found at http://www.facebook.com, then by searching for the "Official Creighton Athletics Page". Among the planned features of Facebook by the department include the following:
-A method to alert fans of rainouts/delays/cancellations.
-RSS feeds that include feeds from http://www.GoCreighton.com (the official home page of Creighton Athletics) and
http://www.Twitter.com/GoCreighton (the official Twitter page of Creighton Athletics).
-Promote ticket giveaways, coupons, and on-sale dates for various events.
-Link to other Creighton events such as community service, Getting Blue BBQ nights, Breast Cancer Awareness Nights and other items.
-Add a video component to include highlight and starting line-up videos produced by Creighton Athletic Marketing.

The sites also includes links to Facebook pages currently being monitored by the softball, volleyball, cross country, women's tennis, men's tennis, crew and women's soccer teams, as well as the Twitter site for Bluejay softball, head softball coach Brent Vigness and head men's basketball coach Greg McDermott.

Both pages will be moderated by the Creighton Sports Information office, with assistance from Creighton Athletic Marketing.

Here's a brief description that focuses on the difference between the two new sources of information:

Twitter
- Created in 2006, Twitter is a social networking and microblogging service that enables its users to send and read messages known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters displayed on the author's profile page and delivered to the author's subscribers who are known as followers. Senders can restrict delivery to those in their circle of friends or, by default, allow open access.

Facebook - Founded in 2003, Facebook is a website where users can create profiles with photos, lists of personal interests, contact information and other personal information.  Users can add friends and send them messages, and update their personal profiles to notify friends about themselves. Additionally, users can join networks organized by workplace, school, or college. Anyone over the age of 13 with a valid e-mail address can become a Facebook user.
