CLEVELAND – Creighton University finished third in the race for the Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association All-Sports trophy standings for the recently completed 2012-13 academic year.
The University of Denver was honored with the trophy for the 2012-13 year for the fifth time in six years, The Pioneers tallied 425.50 total points in the standings, scoring in women’s soccer, skiing, men’s hockey, women’s gymnastics, men’s tennis, men’s and women’s lacrosse and women’s golf.
Rounding out the top-five in I-AAA were Wichita State in second with 363.25 points, Creighton in third with 233.00 points, Marquette in fourth with 212.00 points, and Boston University with 207.50 points.
The following institutions captured 2012-13 DI-AAA ADA All-Sports Trophies: baseball – Cal State Fullerton; men’s basketball – Wichita State; women’s basketball – Creighton; men’s cross country – Portland; women’s cross country – Providence; men’s golf – St. Mary’s (CA); women’s golf – Pepperdine; men’s soccer – Creighton; women’s soccer – Denver and Marquette; softball – Hofstra; IUPU – Fort Wayne; Longwood; and South Carolina Upstate; men’s tennis – Pepperdine; women’s tennis – California Irvine; men’s indoor track & field – Oral Roberts; women’s indoor track & field – Wichita State; men’s outdoor track & field – UNC Greensboro; women’s outdoor track & field – Wichita State; and women’s volleyball – Wichita State.
Creighton had five teams reach the NCAA Tournament in 2012-13, with four of them winning at least one postseason game. The school also won five MVC regular-season titles and three MVC Tournament titles in 2012-13.
