Dufek & Adams Earn All-America and All-Region Honors From ABCA
On the 2011 ABCA/Rawlings All-America Teams, Adams was a second-team
All-American outfielder, while Dufek claimed third-team All-America plaudits as a starting pitcher. This marks the first time that Creighton has had a representative on the team since Tony Roth was named third-team All-American second baseman in 2004.
Both Adams and Dufek were named first team all-Midwest Region as well.
This is the fourth All-America honor for Adams this season. He was previously named second-team All-American by the NCBWA and Baseball America, while earning third-team honors from Collegiate Baseball. Adams led Creighton in nearly every offensive category in 2011, including batting average (.387), slugging percentage (.665), on-base percentage (.467), runs (46), hits (89), RBI (57), triples (4), home runs (14), total bases (153), walks (28) and stolen bases (15). In the Missouri Valley Conference, he ranked first in home runs and slugging percentage, second in hits and total bases, third in batting average, fourth in RBI, fifth in on-base percentage and sixth in triples.
This is Dufek's second All-America honor, as he was previously named a third-team All-American by Collegiate Baseball.
Dufek ended his senior season leading the Missouri Valley Conference in
wins (12), strikeouts (128) and ERA (2.08), as well as opposing batting
average (.198) and innings pitched (112.2). Entering Thursday's College World Series game, Dufek ranked seventh nationally in both wins and strikeouts. He was also named
MVP of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament on May 28th after
going 2-0 with a 0.84 ERA and leading Creighton to its second-ever
Creighton finished the season 45-16 and became the first team in program history to sweep the MVC regular-season and Tournament titles in the same season.
