OMAHA, Neb. -- A 2-0 weekend, including a win over the nation's No. 13-ranked team, has helped the Creighton Volleyball program ascend to the No. 19 spot in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association Top-25 poll.
It's the first time the program has cracked the top 20 of the national poll, and the 423 points it received are also a record.
Last season Creighton moved into the national rankings for the first time in program history on November 5, moving into the No. 25 spot in the poll. The Bluejays were also ranked 23rd (Nov. 12), 21st (Nov. 19) and No. 24 in the year-end poll. This year's Bluejay team was ranked No. 25 in the preseason poll and opened the season with wins vs. No. 13 BYU (3-1) and host Bowling Green (3-0) last weekend.
The Bluejays return home this week to play three matches in the Bluejay Invitational. Creighton hosts Northern Colorado on Friday at 6 pm before playing Saturday matches vs. USF at Noon and vs. California at 7:30 pm.
