OMAHA, Neb. -- Three wins at the USF Invitational have helped Creighton Volleyball gain a pair of votes in the AVCA Division I Coaches Top 25 poll released on Monday.
This is the first time that Creighton has earned votes during a regular-season poll, and just the second time overall. The Jays got three votes in the year-end Dec. 22, 2010 poll after reaching the second round of the NCAA Tournament with a victory over then No. 16 Iowa State.
Among those programs that Creighton will play in the future that also are listed in the poll are No. 21 Kansas State, No. 23 Northern Iowa, and vote-getter Tulsa.
Nebraska ascended to the top spot in the poll after a 3-2 win over previous No. 1, UCLA, on Saturday night.
Creighton (3-0) hosts the Bluejay Invitational this weekend, beginning with a 6 pm match vs. Syracuse (3-0). Denver (2-1) takes on No. 21 Kansas State (3-0) in the first match of the event beginning at 3:30 pm in D.J. Sokol Arena.
