OMAHA, Neb. - The Creighton women's soccer team battled Utah State to a draw at Morrison Stadium on Friday, Aug. 24.

Creighton moved to 0-1-1 on the season, while Utah State is now 2-0-1.

The Jays broke out on top in the 29th minute by taking advantage of a Utah State foul.  Senior Gabriela Guillén sent a direct kick towards the goal from just over 25 yards to the right.  Guillén's pass found its mark as senior Brittney Neumann ran crossing from left to blast it into the goal from 15 yards away.

It was Creighton's first goal of the season and Neumann's 25th career goal.

Unfortunately the Jays defense suffered a momentary lapse just over three minutes later as Utah State's Jennifer Flynn corralled a pass deep in Creighton zone and blasted a shot past senior Katie Jo Swanson at 31:43 to even the game at 1-1.

Despite several scoring chances, the contest remained tied throughout the remaining 78:17.

Although Creighton took a 9-6 shot edge into halftime, Utah State was the more aggressive team in the second half.  The Aggies outshot the Bluejays 11-3 in the second period.

The two overtime periods saw each team just miss on strong scoring chances.

Utah State finished with a 21-15 lead in shots as well as a 7-5 edge in corner kicks.

Swanson tallied five saves for Creighton, while Utah State split time in goal.  Ashlyn Mulford nabbed four saves in the first half to lead the Aggies.

The Jays return to the pitch on Sunday, Aug. 26 as Creighton travels to Stillwater, Okla. to face No. 4 Oklahoma State at 1 p.m.
