Austin is the Kids Day at the Park event, where local children from the Omaha area are invited to catch a game at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha.  The late contest with the Huskers is the annual Nebraska Classic, sponsored by First National Bank.

Scouting the Bluejays (27-15-1, 12-3 BIG EAST)
The Bluejays have won seven of their last ten.  Creighton will host a day/night doubleheader on Tuesday, welcoming in Stephen F. Austin at 12:30 pm and Nebraska at 7:00 pm.

Sophomore RHP Tommy Strunc (12.79 ERA, 0-2, 10 app, 4 starts, 12.2 IP, 15 H, 19 R, 18 ER, 15 BB, 12 K) will get the start in the opening game, while the starter against the Huskers will not be known until after the first contest.

Nebraska vs. Creighton Series
Less than an hour apart, Creighton and Nebraska are fmiliar foes on the baseball field. Nebraska holds an 84-42-2 series edge on the Bluejays. The Huskers have already secured the 2014 series by taking the first two meetings.

When playing in Omaha, the Huskers hold a 48-15-1 edge over the Bluejays. Coach Servais is 12-21 versus Nebraska in his career.

Nebraska took the first meeting between the two squads on March 18, 5-4 in ten innings and also claimed a 4-2 decision on April 8 at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha.

Scouting the Huskers (34-17, 15-5 Big Ten)
Nebraska has won seven straight and 10 of its last 11 games to move into contention for at-large consideration as the 2014 season winds to a close.

Neither Creighton nor Nebraska have named starters for the Tuesday night contest.  The Huskers enter play with a 3.61 team ERA, limiting opponents to four runs or less in nine of their last ten games.

While Nebraska’s pitching has been lights out, the bats have been getting red hot.  Over the last seven game the Huskers have averaged just under seven runs per game.

Final Regular Season Matchup Has Been Pivotal for the Bluejays
Since 1988, Creighton has won the final regular season meeting with Nebraska six times (1991, 1992, 2005, 2007, 2011 & 2012).  Each victory proved to be a precursor to a trip to the NCAA Regionals.

The last time Creighton made the NCAA Tournament without claiming the final regular season meeting with Nebraska was in 2000.

Adept at Avoiding the Sweep
Creighton was down 2-0 to Nebraska in the season series in both 2011 and 2012, but were able to avoid the sweep with a 9-8 win in 2011 and with an 8-1 victory in 2012.  The last time Nebraska swept the Bluejays came in 2008.  Creighton’s last sweep of the Huskers came in 1974.

Bluejays Showing Poise of Champions
Creighton is 9-2 games decided by one run this year. Each of Ed Servais’ first three teams to win 9+ 1-run games (2005, 2007, 2011) have gone on to reach the NCAA Regionals.

Speaking of Championships
The Bluejay Baseball can clinch at least a share of the first BIG EAST Championship in school history with two victories against Xavier in Ohio.

There are a number of possibilities that will result in a BIG EAST title for the Bluejays.
