Women's Golf Finishes 13th in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Creighton women’s golf team finished 13th at the Gary Crossley Ford Kansas City Shootout on Tuesday. The par-72 6,124 yard Shoal Creek Golf Course hosted the 15-team event. The field included host school UMKC, Nebraska Omaha, Drake, Wichita State and Missouri State.

Creighton finished with a team score of 993 (329+338+326).

Wichita State (306+301+319=926) finished first, South Dakota State (309+309+319=937) second and North Dakota State (312+320+316=948) placed third.   

Sarah Storandt of North Dakota State finished first with a 223 (76+72+75). There was a three way tie for second.

Katie Morel was the top golfer for the Jays. The junior finished tied for 22nd, shooting a 239 (76+87+76). Junior Rachel Thompson finished tied for 42nd with a 245 (84+79+82) and freshman Annie Pearson tied for 60th (85+85+83=253)

Freshman Kelsey Petersen (68th, 84+87+85=256) and sophomore Grace Yowell (T-72nd, 85+87+87=259) both competed in the shootout.

Madeline Albers finished tied for 81st with a 269 (85+90+94) while competing as an individual.  

The Jays turn their focus to the BIG EAST tournament April 17-19 in Daytona Beach, Fla.
