South Dakota State vs. Creighton
Creighton has a 16-5 series edge on South Dakota State.  Creighton took the only meeting last season as Matt Warren was dominant in a 7-1 Bluejay victory.  The first meeting between the two teams came in 1969 (a South Dakota State win, 3-2).  Coach Servais has an 12-4 mark versus South Dakota State.

Scouting the Jackrabbits (9-8)
South Dakota State comes to Omaha in the middle of their season-opening 27 game road trip.  The Jackrabbits will not play their first game at home until April 4.  

South Dakota State opened the season in the South, playing Texas Southern, Jackson State, Alabama A&M and Texas-San Antonio.  Recently the Jackrabbits played in the Snowbird Invitational
in Port Charlotte, Fla. (March 7-12).  SDSU finished the six-game stretch with a 3-3 mark, dropping both meetings with Creighton’s new BIG EAST rival Georgetown.

The Jackrabbits are hitting .279 as a unit entering play Friday, led by Scott Splett’s .406 mark.  The SDSU leadoff hitter, Splett has also drawn 10 walks to boast a .500 on-base percentage.

The three starters slated to face the Bluejays have also been impressive, Adam Bray, Chris Anderson and Chad Hodges.  Bray and Hodges have each tossed a complete game in the early going, while Anderson has a stellar 1.33 ERA. 

Bluejays Display Excellent Penmenship
Through the first 13 games of the 2014 season, Creighton has been anchored by its bullpen.  The Bluejay bullpen has allowed just 16 earned runs in 68 innings for a 2.12 ERA.  The starters, meanwhile, have allowed 38 runs in 46 innings (a 7.43 ERA).
