CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Creighton Baseball team capped off an unbeaten weekend with a rare 5-5 tie after 10 innings against Charlotte on Sunday. Due to Creighton's travel plans, coaches had predetermined before the game that no inning would start after 3:50 pm (ET).

Creighton is now 4-4-1 after a 2-0-1 weekend, while Charlotte moved to 2-6-1 in 2014.

Creighton took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, as junior Jake Peter reached on a fielder's choice and scored on a single to left by Brett Murray that was misplayed by Charlotte.

The 49ers responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning and tacked on two more in the second to chase Bluejay starter, freshman Jeff Albrecht.

Down 5-1, Creighton chipped away with a run in the fourth as Murray laced a double down the left field line and came on to score on an RBI groundout by junior Landon Lucansky.

The Bluejays tallied three runs to tie the game in the top of the sixth on four singles and a hit batter. Murray provided the spark once again, reaching first to open the frame as he was plunked in the shoulder.  Sophomore Reagan Fowler sent Murray to second with a single through the left side. One out later senior Cody Kottich punched and RBI single up the middle.  With two outs in the inning, senior Brad McKewon lifted an RBI single along the left field line and freshman Nicky Lopez tied the game with an infield single to plate Kottich.

The game remained tied, 5-5, through the final four frames.  Six Bluejay hurlers teamed to throw 8.1 innings of scoreless relief.

Creighton's offense was led by Murray 3-for-3 day as well as a 2-for-2 effort from sophomore Joey Mancuso.

The Bluejays return to action on Tuesday, March 4 as the Bluejays travel to Lawrence, Kansas to take on the Kansas Jayhawks at 3 p.m.  The game can be seen online at
