MILWAUKEE, Wisc. - Sophomore Alyssa Jara and freshman Paige Jarsombeck were named to the All-BIG EAST Third Team as the annual BIG EAST honors were announced on Thursday, Nov. 7 at the team banquet prior to the start of The BIG EAST Championship.
Jara appeared in 17 of Creighton's 18 contests, starting 13 matches. She recorded two goals and an assist in 1117 minutes. In BIG EAST action, Jara appeared in eight matches. She started six BIG EAST contests, firing off 11 shots.
Jarsombeck saw action in 15 matches, including 13 starts. Despite missing four matches due to a concussion, Jarsombeck finished tied for fourth on the team with eight points. She led all freshmen with four goals, including the game-winner in Creighton's 4-1 victory over Northern Colorado on Sept. 1. In BIG EAST play, Jarsombeck appeared in eight matches (seven starts) and gathered five shots.
The BIG EAST Championship will be played Friday, Nov. 8 and Sunday, Nov. 10, at Valley Fields on the campus of Marquette University. The semifinals begin with No. 2 seed Georgetown facing No. 3 seed DePaul at 5 p.m. CT. Marquette, the No. 1 seed, will play No. 4 seed St. John’s at 7:30 p.m. The championship game will begin at 1 p.m. CT and will be televised by FOX Sports 1.
