IOWA CITY, Iowa - The Bluejay Rowing team delivered a strong showing, including a win in the two woman race, at the Head of the Iowa Regatta on Sunday, Oct. 27.
Creighton got the Regatta started off with a bang as senior Lauren Klick and junior Anne Marie Stonikas won the event, besting three pairs from University of Colorado and one team from University of St. Thomas with a time of 18:29.18.
After placing ninth, 11th and 12th in the Novice 8+ race, Creighton's Novice 4+ team earned a sixth place finish with a time of 19:47.272.
The varsity 4+ race saw the Bluejays' C team post a time of 17:11.672 for 10th place, while the B team finished 15th in 18:22.381 and the A squad was just a shade behind finishing in 16th place in 18:29.286.
Finally in the varsity 8+ matchup Creighton A grouping nabbed seventh place with a time of 15:28.345. The B and C teams posted 12th and 13th place finishes with respective times of 16:51.221 and 16:52.920.
"I'm very proud of the way we rowed today," said head coach Dan Chipps. "Having the varsity three 8s as fast as they did sets up well for Drake and the for the spring."
Creighton will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 9 as the Bluejays battle Drake in a duel matchup in Des Moines, Iowa.
