Release: 10/22/2013

OMAHA, Neb. - The Creighton men's soccer team ranked at No. 22 in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll released Tuesday afternoon, following downfalls at Michigan and against Villanova last week.

As a result, Creighton slipped 10 spots in the poll to the No. 22 position in the NSCAA rankings. Butler, CU’s next opponent, dropped out of the top 25 this week but stands second in the list of schools also receiving votes. California claimed the No. 1 ranking this week.

It marks the 45th consecutive week that Creighton is ranked in the NSCAA Top 25. The 2010 preseason poll was the last time the Jays were unranked.

In the latest NCAA Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) released on Monday, Creighton ranks No. 17 overall, down 11 places from a week ago. The RPI is one of the primary tools utilized by the NCAA for tournament team selections and seeding. The Jays are one of nine BIG EAST squads listed among the top 60.

Butler, the Bluejays’ opponent on Wednesday, is ranked at No. 32 in the RPI. Seton Hall, CU’s foe this weekend, is No. 60.

The Jays dropped to No. 22 in the TopDrawerSoccer Top 25 rankings this week, down 14 slots from last week. Creighton fell 17 spots to No. 27 in the latest College Soccer News Top 30 rankings released on Monday.
