NEW YORK, N.Y. - Senior Kelsey O'Donnell earned the first BIG EAST honor for the Bluejays' women's soccer team, claiming the Defensive Player of the Week nod on Monday, Sept. 2.
O'Donnell earned the award for her play from Aug. 25 - Sept. 1. The lone senior on the back line, O’Donnell played a critical role in the Jays’ shutout of North Dakota, 6-0 on Aug. 30 as well as the Jays' 4-1 win over Northern Colorado on Sept. 1.
Creighton held UND to just six shots in the match, including two in the second half, and did not allow a corner. On Sunday, O’Donnell and the defense once again held their opponent (Northern Colorado) without a corner. In addition, O’Donnell notched her first goal of the season via a penalty kick in the second half of the win over the Bears.
O'Donnell and the Bluejays return to action on Sunday, Sept. 8 as Creighton hosts Idaho at 1 p.m. in Morrison Stadium.
