OMAHA, Neb. - Creighton baseball sophomore Jake Peter was named the to 2013 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Second Team on Tuesday, June 18.
Peter had a breakout 2013, both at the plate and on the mound. Jake was the Bluejays' leader in average (.350), hits (71), RBI (35) and is second in doubles (10), triples (5) as well as slugging percentage (.463). On the mound, Jake has served as the Jays' closer this season, collecting six saves and two wins in 14 appearances. Peter finished with a 3.07 ERA in 14.2 innings, walking just three batters and collecting 18 punch-outs.
Earlier this summer Jake was invited to participate in a Team USA training camp, named a finalist for the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award and a semifinalist for the Gregg Olson Award, created to honor college baseball's "Breakout Player of the Year".
