St. LOUIS, Mo. - Junior Sarah Nelson was named the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the week for her performances during the period of December 24-30.
Nelson brought home back-to-back Scholar-Athlete of the Week honors as she led the Jays with 19 points and nine rebounds in Creighton's 88-81 double overtime loss at Minnesota. The junior played 48 minutes, finishing with three assists, one block and two steals. Sarah was 7-of-14 from the field in the contest, she earned the award the previous week averaging 17 points and 7.5 rebounds in the Jays' two victories at the Caribbean Classic.
A finance major, Nelson boasts a 3.658 grade-point average, the Scholar-Athlete of the Week award is Nelson’s third, in addition to last week she nabbed the award on Nov. 16, 2011.
