DURHAM, N.C. - Creighton's head baseball coach Ed Servais was tabbed as one of three assistants for USA Baseball's 2013 Collegiate National Team on Tuesday, Dec. 18. Joining Servais on
TCU's Jim Schlossnagle’s
four-man staff are Mike Bianco of Mississippi and Tim Esmay of Arizona State.
Servais will coach team defense and serve as the first base coach for the USA National Team. He enters his 10th
season leading the Creighton baseball program in 2013 as the
winningest coach in Bluejay history with 327 victories. With a career
record of 327-195, Servais led the Jays to the NCAA Tournament in three of
the past six seasons (2007, 2011 & 2012) and was named the Missouri
Valley Conference Coach of the Year four times in his tenure at Creighton
(2004, 2005, 2007 & 2011).

Servais has coached 43 players to All-MVC
honors, including 19 All-MVC First Team selections. He has coached nine
All-Americans and had 15 Bluejays selected in the MLB Draft. Servais’ teams
have finished among the nation’s best in fielding percentage and sacrifice
bunts every season, including 2012, when the Bluejays finished eighth in
fielding percentage (.978).
This is the second stint for TCU's Schlossnagle as a coach for USA Baseball as he served as an assistant in 2006. Esmay,
Bianco and Servais will be making their debut with USA Baseball, each currently serve as head coaches for their respective universities.
