Men's Soccer Trio Named MVC Scholars

ST. LOUIS (Nov. 19) - For the third straight season three Creighton men's soccer players were named to the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Scholar-Athlete First Team, the league announced Monday.

Earlier this fall he joined the U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team, playing over 220 minutes in three matches at the Marbella Cup in Spain. The business major owns a 3.71 GPA.

Ribas, a 2012 All-MVC Second Team member, has started all 21 games for the Jays this season. He posted two assists in 90 minutes of action during a 4-2 win over No. 21 Washington on Nov. 18. Ribas recorded his seventh assist on CU's go-ahead goal and his eighth helper of 2012 on the Jays' game-winning score. Ribas' pair of assists tied him for first overall in the MVC with eight total. He has posted four assists over the past four matches and ranks third on the team with 12 points (two goals, eight assists) this season. Ribas ranks third on the squad with 16 shots on goal this season. A three-time MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week in 2012, Ribas carries a 3.60 GPA in business.
