OMAHA, Neb. - Senior Katie Jo Swanson and junior Lauren Cingoranelli were named to the 2012 MVC All-Tournament team following the championship final on Sunday, Nov. 4.
The Bluejays finished the 2012 season 3-13-3 overall and 0-1-1 in the MVC Tournament, advancing past No. 3 Drake on Sunday, Oct. 28 (T, 0-0) on PKs (8-7), before falling to the eventual tournament champion Illinois State, 2-1, on Friday, Nov. 2.
Swanson played two of her best matches as a Jay in the MVC Tournament, stopping a penalty kick in regulation against Drake and holding the high-powered Redbirds to just two goals in the MVC semifinal match. For the season, Swanson finised with 101 saves in 19 matches. She played 1,788:42 minutes, posted a 1.56 Goals Against Average.
Cingoranelli equally was impressive in the MVC Tourament, playing 105 and 84 minutes respectively for the Bluejays. She had four shots in the tournament, including one on goal. Cingoranelli closed the 2012 season with one point (one assist) on 20 shots in 1,334 minutes played.
