Creighton Moves Up Two Spots to No. 22 in Latest NSCAA Poll
Release: 10/16/2012

OMAHA, Neb. (Oct. 16) - The Creighton men's soccer team jumped two spots to No. 22 in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll on Tuesday, Oct. 16, after road wins at Princeton (3-2 OT) and at Central Arkansas (3-0) last week.

This marks the 32nd consecutive week that Creighton has been ranked in the NSCAA top 25.  The last time the Jays were not ranked was the preseason poll in 2010.

The Jays moved up one spot to third in the NSCAA Midwest Regional Rankings. Creighton also moved up a spot to No. 18 in the TopDrawer Soccer rankings and held steady at No. 19 in the College Soccer News poll. The Jays entered back into the Soccer America rankings in a tie for No. 25 after a two-week absence. The Soccer Times poll was unavailable at press time; last week CU stood No. 17 in those rankings.

CU stands at No. 17 in the initial Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) released by the NCAA on Monday, Oct. 15.

The highest-rated opponent left on the Jays’ regular-season schedule is No. 76 Bradley. CU finished No. 2 in the RPI after a run to the 2011 College Cup semis.

Creighton begins a three-match home stand by hosting UMKC tonight at 7 p.m. in Morrison Stadium.

CU battles MVC rival Bradley as part of a doubleheader at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, following the Creighton women's soccer team's match with Evansville in its regular-season home finale.

The matches coincide with the Jays' SocctoberFest, a celebration of the Creighton men's and women's soccer programs. The event is scheduled from 3:00-7:00 p.m. inside a heated tent on the lawn just west of the Morrison Stadium main entrance. Walk-ins are welcome but to register and purchase your SocctoberFest tickets in advance online, go to www.creighton.edu/athleticevents.
