Volleyball Tops Bradley in Four; Remains Atop MVC

OMAHA, Neb. -- Megan Bober had 14 kills, 30 assists and 13 digs to help Creighton Volleyball to a 3-1 win over Bradley on Saturday night. Scores of the match were 25-11, 19-25, 25-17, 25-23.

Creighton improved to 15-3 on the year and remains in first place in the Missouri Valley Conference with a 6-1 record. Bradley fell to 6-12 and is 0-7 in league play.

Creighton carried its momentum from last night's big win over UNI into the first set, hitting .414 to claim a 25-11 win. After falling behind 2-0, senior Brooke Boggs and freshman Melanie Jereb served the Jays during a 10-1 run that saw take over control the set. Bober had six kills and seven assists to lead CU in the opening frame.

Creighton appeared well on its way to another victory in set number two, building a comfortable 18-12 lead. The Braves abruptly turned the tide with Lincoln native Lea Sack serving a remarkable 10-0 run  to gave them the lead, and would extend that run to 13-1 to take the second set 25-19. Bober had five kills, five assists and four digs in the set, which saw CU commit nine attack errors. The Braves got 12 assists from Madison Kamp, who dished four of those to Madelyn Ervin for kills.

Creighton broke free from an 11-11 deadlock in the third set with a 7-1 run featuring three blocks from Kelli Browning. The Jays extended that lead as large as 23-14, before eventually wrapping up the set on a BU service error.

Kate Elman served CU into a 5-0 lead to open the fourth set, before the scrappy Bradley squad fought back to even the score at 10-all and even take a 13-11 lead on consecutive blocks by Amy Angelos. Creighton answered with a 4-0 run, taking the lead on Katie Neisler's serve. Creighton led 23-21 and were two points fofrom victory before Bradley evened the score at 23-all on an ace serve from Courtney Keefe. Following a timeout, CU's Browning and Michelle Sicner stuffed Alise Tuperitis at the net to get to match point, then won it when Angelos' attack attempt went long and wide.

Bober's triple-double was her second of the season, and third straight in a match against Bradley dating to last season. Browning had 11 kills and eight blocks, while Elman led the Jays wiht 18 digs and three aces. Creighton finished with 51 kills, seven aces, 63 digs and 14 blocks while hitting .239.

Bradley was led by nine kills from Angelos, while three other women had eight kills each. Lauren Zerante dug a match-high 24 balls to pace the BU defense. Bradley finished with 47 kills, five aces, 62 digs and 6.5 blocks on .154 hitting.

Creighton Volleyball returns to action next weekend with matches at Illinois State (Friday, 7 pm) and Indiana State (Saturday, 6 pm).
